I was born in Joplin, MO, and raised in Neosho, MO. I have lived in Springfield for 10 years.
I have a wonderful, crazy, non-traditional family. and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it. My family consists of my best friend and the mother of my child, Barbara; she and I have been friends since elementary school and she has been my biggest cheerleader since the day we met, and I hers. The best thing she and I ever did was have our spirited, intelligent, wonderful daughter Sydnee. She is one of those awesome kids with an old soul, and I can’t believe how lucky we are to have her in our lives. To round out the crew is Chris. He came along and jumped into my crazy life and hasn’t missed a beat. He makes my heart happy. I am not one of those “blood is thicker than water” people and I consider my friends to be my family as well. There are too many to mention here, but you all know who you are. Also, I’d go crazy if I didn’t have my blonde bombshell Physique girls in my life!
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT PHYSIQUE FITNESS?
What I love about Physique is the positive energy it projects into the world. It’s a fresh, exciting place to be and it is all about love and positivity. It is the kind of place where you walk in the doors and immediately feel uplifted. Troubles can be left at the door, pounded out with Ripstix, bounced out on a Rebounder, or left on the floor in a puddle of sweat. I think that is some of the best therapy there is. The people who work at Physique each bring their own brand of positivity and bright light. We all strive to make fitness and well-being an enlightening experience for our clients.
It’s a toss up between sushi and rib-eye steak from Flame.
I could watch Bridesmaids every single day.
FAVORITE MUSIC ARTIST:
This is the most impossible question to ask someone. I love so many different artists and styles of music that I could never just pick one. If I did pick one I would change my mind in 5 minutes anyway!
Harry Potter... All day, every day. I have a Harry Potter tattoo.
I absolutely love Fall. I love the smells and the colors and the brisk air. It’s my absolute favorite.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO TEACH FITNESS?
I have always been relatively athletic, but like many people I started to let myself go. I wasn’t in a good place mentally and it showed physically. I sort of stumbled into fitness in an effort to learn to love myself and I haven’t looked back. Nobody is perfect, and the goal of fitness is not perfection, but to make yourself feel better and to find a community of people who you can share in the journey of fitness with. From the first time I walked into a class with Darby at the front, with that big smile and blonde hair, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be, and I have made so many great friends on this journey and I look forward to making many more. Fitness classes can be found anywhere, but finding a team like the Physique team is impossible and I am so blessed to get to teach alongside this awesome team.
